The board of independent financial advisory firm Collins Stewart has named John Cotter as the new group finance director.
Twenty years ago he began working for Coopers & Lybrand as a chartered accountant, before parting ways with the firm to move to Morgan Stanley.
At Morgan Stanley he occupied numerous finance positions over a 15 year period, taking on roles both in the UK and abroad.
He left the bank in 2007 to join the Royal Bank of Scotland during its takeover of Dutch bank ABN AMRO, working for 18 months in the Global Capital Markets division.
Cotter will assume his post and a seat on the firm’s board on 23 June.
Mark Brown, group CEO of Collins Stewart, has expressed his delight at Cotter’s appointment and praised his wealth of experience in the industry.
