Barclaycard has launched a new card that combines Oyster, credit and cashless facilities.
The OnePulse card can cover fares on the Transport for London network by using Oyster; it also combines a credit card account, which is incorporated in the same piece of plastic but is entirely separate.
In addition, the card is equipped with OneTouch technology, which allows the cardholder to make purchases of £10 or under by touching it against a reader.
Any OneTouch expenditure is listed on the cardholder’s monthly statement and the card still has the security of chip & PIN for transactions over £10.
OneTouch technology is currently being installed across the Capital with retailers such as Books Etc, Chop’d, Coffee Republic, EAT, Krispy Kreme, Threshers and YO! Sushi already signed up.
OnePulse allows consumers to reduce the number of plastic cards carried, whilst providing flexible credit and 0% interest on purchases for 6 months, after which a rate of 14.9% APR typical variable is applied.
Moneyfacts, the financial data provider, has pointed out that whilst the purchase rate is slightly lower than the market average, those seeking an introductory purchase or balance transfer offer are not so well served, as offers of both 12 month and 15 months can be found elsewhere.
However, Moneyfacts believes that the card will be of particular interest to those living in or frequently visiting London.
