German firm Commerzbank is enhancing its Beijing branch with a range of new services aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
In the future German and Chinese business clients will be able to access the firm’s full portfolio of corporate customer products through the Beijing branch.
In addition to this, financial institutions will be able to utilise investment banking and transactional services.
Until now Commerzbank had only operated through a representative office in the Chinese capital.
Jan-Willem Sudmann has been appointed to lead the firm’s new Beijing branch.
Last year Commerzbank opened a new branch in Tianjin, a metropolis of 10m people and a city which is also home to a Deutsche Bank branch, opened in 2009.
Commerzbank’s International Segment Head for SMEs Bernd Laber has stated that the firm’s enhancement of the Beijing branch emphasises Commerzbank’s claim to be a leading provider for internationally active SMEs.
