Barclaycard has reported that £165,000 has been earned by its Barclaycard Freedom credit card customers in just two weeks.
Furthermore, to celebrate the successful launch of its “Reward Money” scheme, Barclaycard is doubling the amount cardholders can earn at participating retailers, until 17th May.
Around 30,000 retail outlets across the UK belong to the scheme, including big brand names such as npower, Pizza Express and Shell.
During the period of the promotion, Barclaycard Freedom customers can earn 2% on most transactions (1% ast Shell).
Reward Money is recorded in pounds and pence and when making a purchase with a member of the scheme, customers can see their balance appear on the card machine before entering their PIN.
They can then choose whether to use their balance towards the transaction, or save it up for the future.
Of the larger amounts earned so far for a single transaction is a £260 reward for a purchase made at a branch of Flight Centre, one of the participating retailers.
Barclaycard Freedom managing director, Sarah Newman, says: “It’s great to see that customers are already reaping the rewards of our Barclaycard Freedom retailer coalition.”
