Chi-X Europe Limited has announced that Mark Howarth is to be the firm’s new chief executive officer, on an interim basis and pending regulatory approval.

Chi-X Europe operates the largest equity multilateral trading facility (MTF) that spans Europe.

For the last year Howarth has worked for Chi-X Global Inc. as chief operating officer for Asia-Pacific.

Prior to joining Chi-X he worked for Thomson Financial as CEO for Asia-Pacific and during his career has also held positions with investment banks Merrill Lynch and UBS.

Howarth succeeds former CEO Peter Randall who has vacated the position to spend more time with his family.

However, Randall will stay on at the organisation in an advisory capacity.

Tony Mackay, chairman of Chi-X Europe Limited, has thanked Randall for his tireless efforts over recent years, and wished him all the best for the future.
