Deutsche Bank has named the new head of Global Markets India as Munish Varma, who takes up the role with immediate effect.
He leaves behind his previous role with Deutsche Bank in London, where he served as head of Global Principal Finance Europe, to take up his new post.
Varma succeeds Pavan Sukhdev, who has chosen to focus upon environmental economics and conservation with a variety of NGOs.
Varma will assume responsibility for the bank’s leading trading and sales business in the subcontinent on a local level to Gunit Chadha, Deutsche Bank’s CEO in India, and on a regional basis to Loh Boon Chye who leads Global Markets Asia ex-Japan.
Presently Deutsche Bank enjoys a very strong position in the Indian investment banking sector, leading the way in equity capital markets and foreign currency bonds.
