Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) has been named as the Best Bank in Nigeria at the 2010 Euromoney Awards for Excellence Dinner, hosted in London.
It is the second year in a row that the GTB has won the accolade, an award that was given, according to Euromoney Editor Clive Horwood, in recognition of the GTB’s strong performance during turbulent times for the Nigerian banking sector.
Deposits grew by 45%, and the bank’s $169m profit margin was the greatest in the country.
Deputy Managing Director Segun Agbaje commended the commitment of the bank’s staff throughout the world for their continued efforts.
The second consecutive award for the GTB comes in the same year as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.
The bank operates in Nigeria, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone as well as the United Kingdom, where it is the first African bank to be listed on the London Stock Exchange.
