Deutsche Bank (China) Co. Ltd. has opened a new branch in Tianjin, China.
Tianjin is a port city in northern China, and one of the largest urban areas in the rising superpower.
The new branch will augment the bank’s existing network in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou and comes after attaining approval from the China Banking Regulatory Commission in mid-2009.
The Tianjin will focus primarily on corporate banking and transactions, initially offering treasury products, as well as foreign exchange and interest rate hedging services.
Deutsche Bank China’s group chairman, Lee Zhang, has said that the opening of the firm’s fourth Chinese branch will help it to increase its provision of premium services in the region.
Deutsche Bank began operations in China in early 2008, through a local unit active in Beijing.
