Merrill Lynch & Co has announced the appointment of Dick Barrett and Mark Ellman who become vice chairman.
They join the bank from the financial services firm they founded, Barrett Ellman Stoddard Capital Partners.
Prior to founding their own firm three years ago, they both worked for Credit Suisse as co-heads of the global financial institutions practice.
Barrett brings with him more than two decades of industry experience, almost 20 years of which was at Salomon Brothers.
Whilst with Salomon Brothers he rose through the ranks to become head of global investment banking for his last years with the firm.
Ellman began his career in investment banking with Wasserstein Perella and Morgan Stanley, moving on to UBS where he became head of Insurance Investment Banking.
Barrett and Ellman will be directly responsible to the head of Global Origination, Andrea Orcel.
Orcel has welcomed the two new appointments, describing the collective experience of over 50 years the two men bring as invaluable.
