Asset management and financial services firm The Blackstone Group has formed a new business group, dedicated to investments in the cleantech energy sector.
In addition, the newly established group will offer advice across Blackstone regarding renewable energy sources.
James Kiggen is to lead the new group, having joined Blackstone as a senior managing director in the Corporate Private Equity group.
Before joining the firm he worked for AllianceBernstein LP as a senior vice president, and was responsible for the leadership of a team tasked with researching emerging science and technology.
Kiggen has also worked as a consultant with McKinsey & Co and for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette as a managing director.
Walter Vester and Richard Troyer also join the firm as principals, leaving behind AllianceBernstein.
Vester brings with him seven years of experience in communication and energy technology companies.
Troyer served as a research analyst in biotechnology with both Credit Suisse and Piper Jaffray.
