Lloyds TSB has launched a new website aimed at helping its customers through the credit crisis.

Consumers logging on to lloydstsbcompare.com can compare the cost of the UK’s service and utility providers.

The site also includes supermarket petrol price tables that can help motorists secure the best deals in and around their local area.

Gas, electricity, telephone and broadband costs are covered together with car and travel insurance premiums.

Lloyds TSB spokeswoman, Helen Wylde, says customers are concerned about meeting rising household bills this winter.

The bank’s research indicates that 80% of households are already feeling the effects increased costs.

According to Internet survey firm, Tickbox.net, 27% of households have seen energy bills rise by £40 a month this year and 30% are resigned to a similar increase during the winter months.

Forty per cent of consumers surveyed said they did not know how they would meet the cost of energy bills if prices continue to increase, or if this winter is particularly cold.

The Government recently announced that an additional one million people have been pushed into fuel poverty, taking the total to 5.4 million.

To qualify as fuel poor, 10% or more of net income must be spent on energy.
