Investment bank Credit Suisse has announced the appointment of Osama Abbasi as chief executive officer of the Asia Pacific region.
Abbasi, whose appointment is effective from 1 October, will also take up a seat on the Executive Board and report directly to Credit Suisse CEO Brady Dougan.
Effective from the same date, Kai Nargolwala will become the new chairman of Credit Suisse Asia Pacific.
Abbasi will take on responsibility for implementing the bank’s strategic approach to the Asia Pacific region, and for the divisional and country performance in the region.
Nargolwala will, as non-executive chairman, offer advice to the regional senior management, including Abbasi.
Credit Suisse Group Chairman Hans-Ulrich Doerig has described Asia Pacific as a key region for growth for the bank, and stated that the two appointments underline the firm’s depth of talent and commitment to the region.
