Students have voted HSBC as the best banking, insurance and financial services firm for recruiting graudates.

The choice was announced in mid-March in Mayfair, at Grosvenor House, venue of the TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards.

The awards covered a wide variety of occupational sectors, and were decided by a range of factors including diversity, websites and effective campaigns.

Together, students and recent graduates numbering 80,000 selected HSBC as the recipient of the award.

The bank won due not only to its high profile, but also because it was seen as a financial services firm that actively wanted to snap up talented students.

UK Publishing Director at GTI Media Chris Phillips commented on the results, indicating that even in the teeth of a recession there was great competitiveness for hiring the best students, and praised HSBC for its award success.
