Nomura appoints Indian CIO

Global investment bank Nomura has announced the appointment of Birendra Agarwal as managing director and chief information officer of Nomura Services, India (Powai).

He brings to the post decades of experience in managing IT for financial services firms in both the US and UK and has occupied a broad range of positions during his career.

In his new post he will be tasked with managing technological support for equities, fixed income and investment banking and other global business units.

Agarwal will be based in Mumbai and report to Simon Lucocq, Global & Asia Pacific Wholesale chief information officer, on a local level and on a global basis to R. K. Rangan, president and CEO of Nomura Services, India.

Rangan has warmly welcomed the appointment, and paid tribute to Agarwal’s extensive experience and knowledge, predicting he will be an invaluable asset for the firm.
