Lloyds Banking Group has announced the appointment of Brigitte Trafford as the firm’s new group communications director.

In her new post Trafford will assume responsibility for all internal communications, and for Lloyds Banking Group’s external media relations.

She brings to the post extensive experience of working for large public companies managing media relations, and is presently managing partner of Burghley Communications.

Prior to this she worked for ITV plc, with a seat on the executive board and the role of group communications director.

Earlier in her career she was global head of communications for publisher Dow Jones, in New York and London, and was also head of communications for Cable & Wireless Europe.

She will report directly to Chief Executive Eric Daniels, who has expressed his delight at her appointment.
