British business legal expense firm Abbey Legal Protection has sought to support bosses and human resource departments with the unveiling of a new package designed to assist them in handling the difficulties raised by redundancies.

Firms of all sizes are catered to by the Abbey Redundancy Package, which will provide pragmatic advice and support to those embarking upon programmes of redundancy.

For a fixed fee, Abbey will offer access to employment law specialists for advice and consultation, and insurance to cover the costs of legal fees in the unfortunate event of litigation.

Recent unemployment figures have been rising rapidly, as revealed by the three-month figures of the Office of National Statistics (ONS) released in September.

Some 138,000 of the 5.5% rise in unemployment were made redundant.

Abbey Legal’s managing director, Richard Candy, explains that recent legal changes has resulted in UK employment law becoming more and more complicated in recent years.

Because of this Candy warns that any potential savings made by directors failing to look into their legal responsibilities.
