Credit Suisse has announced that its Investment Bank CEO, Paul Calello, is receiving intensive medical treatment for a sudden and unexpected illness.
Calello will remain as involved as possible with the business within the limitations placed upon him by the illness.
Eric Varvel will become the temporary acting Investment Bank CEO in the meantime.
Varvel will retain both his location in London and his present role as CEO of the EMEA region.
Credit Suisse’s CEO Brady W. Dougan has stated the firm’s support for Calello at this difficult time and expressed his hope that he makes a full recovery.
Dougan went on to thank Varvel for stepping in on an interim basis, and stated his confidence in the temporary Investment Bank CEO’s capabilities.
