Cowen Group has announced the appointment of Laura Champine as a senior analyst responsible for the consumer sector.
She leaves behind her post as a senior analyst with Morgan Keegan & Company, where she worked in the New York office covering home products, retailers and manufacturers for seven years, and two years as an associate analyst following tech/telecom.
Champine has also worked in Boston for Cadence Capital Management and Chase Asset Management, which was also in New York.
Cowen Group’s Equity Research Department closely follows over 375 companies, and is staffed with a 30 strong team of senior analysts.
Growth sectors are its primary area of interest due to the naturally higher proclivity for firms to be established in those sectors.
Cowen’s research director, Barry Tarasoff, has welcomed the fresh perspective Champine will add to the organisation’s specialty retail team.
Tarasoff went on to praise Champine’s extensive experience in the sector, and her expertise in independent research.
