Northern Rock has announced that it is closing its banking operations in Guernsey, following a strategic review of its offshore business undertaken in preparation for the bank’s return to private ownership.
All customers of Northern Rock (Guernsey) Limited have been notified and advised of the process required to close their accounts in full.
A three month notice period has been provided to ensure customers have adequate time to make new arrangements by 2nd September 2010.
Additional deposits can be made via standing order until close of business on 2nd July and automated payments should be cancelled before this date.
Around 6,000 customers are affected.
