Yesterday, Deutsche Bank Securities announced the appointment of Derek Davies to the position of managing director and leader of Canadian Commodities inside the Global Markets division.
He joins the firm from UBS where he served as leader of European power, gas, and emissions marketing, prior to which he held the post of managing director for Canadian gas and power marketing.
In his new Calgary-based position, Davies will be charged with responsibility for running Deutsche Bank’s Canadian commodities operations, which permits the firm’s Canadian customers to access the bank’s global commodities business.
He will report directly to Tim Sullivan, Commodities Sales and Origination’s leader in North America.
Sullivan has welcomed Davies’ appointment, adding that he was confident Davies’ experience would prove of great benefit to the firm in Canada.
