Evercore appoints private equity senior MD

Ray E. Newton III has been appointed by Evercore Partners Inc. as the firm’s new senior managing director of Evercore Capital Partners (ECP), the firm’s private equity group.

In addition, Newton will have a seat on ECP’s Investment Committee, and assumes his New York-based role with immediate effect.

He brings with him over 20 years of experience in the private equity industry, including more than 10 years spent with Perseus where he worked as a senior managing director.

Prior to that, he worked for J. H. Whitney & Co as a General Partner from 1989 until 1998.

Evercore Partners’ CEO and chairman, Roger C. Altman, has welcomed Newton’s appointment, praising his successful career in private equity.
