Jefferies has announced the appointment of Dr. Ward McCarthy as chief financial economist and MD within the Fixed Income Group.
He joins the firm after two decades at Stone & McCarthy Research Associates, which he co-founded in 1989.
He has also worked for Merrill Lynch as manager and chief financial economist of Government Debt Research.
Dr. McCarthy will be tasked with analysis of government debt and broader fixed income global markets and forecasting.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Handler has welcomed McCarthy’s appointment and praised his knowledge, experience and insight.
Head of Fixed Income Tim Cronin has expressed his pleasure at McCarthy joining the firm, and paid tribute to his in-depth knowledge of the sector.
