Latin American investment banking group MBA Lazard has announced that it has opened a new office in Peru.
The financial advisory office is located in Lima, the Peruvian capital, and will be headed up by Augusto F. Barreto, who has been hired as a managing director.
Barreto brings more than 14 years of experience in investment banking to his new role, and joined the firm from Citigroup Global markets in September.
In his prior role, also based in Lima, he was responsible for investment banking coverage in South America (except Brazil).
The move is part of MBA Lazard’s overarching strategic approach to create a financial advisory service provision throughout Central and South America.
At present the firm operates from Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Panama and Peru.
Alejandro F. Reynal, chief executive officer and chairman, has expressed excitement at the expansion during an era of economic and financial favourability in Peru.
MBA Lazard is a joint effort between Lazard Ltd and the parent company of MBA Banco de Inversiones, MBA Group.
